Every September and October, Macau lights up its night sky with one of Asia's most celebrated fireworks contests. Teams from around the world compete for the title, and this year marks the 34th edition.
The show happens right above the water, directly in front of Macau Tower. That means you get one of the closest, clearest views in the whole city. No traffic, no crowds to fight through, just a great spot and good food.
We've put together a few ways to watch, from a casual spot with drinks in hand, to a full sit down buffet with a 360° view. Pick what suits your night below.
Book your spot early. Past contest nights have sold out weeks in advance.
This isn't just a fireworks show, it's a competition. Each night, two international pyrotechnic teams take turns lighting up the sky over the water, each trying to outdo the other.
It's one of the most respected fireworks contests in the world. Over more than three decades, over 100 teams from more than 20 countries, including China, Japan, Portugal, France, the UK and Germany, have competed for the title.
Organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
