Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre unveiled an Art & Sculpture Exhibition titled "In Loving Memory of Selene Fung 1943-1999" this afternoon. Guests of Honor include the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of MSAR Government, Dr. Chui Sai On, Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in MSAR Mr. Kong Fan Zhuang, Spokesman Director-General of the Department of Policy Research from the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Li Chun Hua, Managing Director, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A Dr. Stanley Ho, Chairman of Macau Tower, Ms. Pansy Ho and mother of Selene Fung, Ms. Nanette Ho.

Selene Fung was a Macau-born artist immensely talented in pencil portraiture and bronze sculpturing. Under her mother, Ms. Nanette Ho's influence, Selene had demonstrated extraordinary talents since a very young age. With her subsequent trainings and hard works, she has held solo exhibitions in many world cities, and her collection was highly appraised by internationally renowned celebrities such as Paul Newman, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti. Most unfortunately, at the height of her artistic career, she suddenly passed away in New York at age 56, leaving behind a legacy of fine works. Today, Macau Tower is greatly honored to have Ms. Nanette Ho's generous contribution of some of Selene's favorite pieces, including 77 paintings and 21 sculptures, for exhibition. Moreover, 6 poems written by Ms. Ho over the grief of her lost child are also being featured.

Guest of Honor Dr. Stanley Ho lamented, "Selene left us with a collection of very touching pieces. Not only do they reflect her artistic talents, they are overflowing with her passion and love of art."

Representative from the host, Chairman of Macau Tower Ms. Pansy Ho, indicated that this is an excellent chance to encourage young local artists to pursue their dreams and that Macau Tower will continue to collaborate with local communities for the promotion and enhancement of the city's cultural movements.

The permanent exhibition is officially opened today and admission is free.
