Tower for a
French Christmas 2004
This Christmas, Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment
Centre is bringing to the Orient a glittery French
Noel titled, "Rendez-vous a Macau Tower for a French
Christmas 2004", paying tribute to the "Year of France
in China" campaign and celebrating the 5th Handover
Anniversary of Macau SAR. Macau Tower will be staging
a kaleidoscope of French-themed celebrations, including
a French Marche to be opened on December 10, as well
as a world class pyro-musical epic to be sparked off
on December 17 titled "So that the stars dance". This
spectacle is an official program under the "Year of
France in China" campaign, and Macau Tower is proud
to be invited by the organizing committee to host
this focus attraction in Macau. In this memorable
month of December, we hope to extend an impressionable
evening for residents and tourists as well as an unforgettable
Christmas holiday.
A Galvanizing Pyrotechnic Display "So that the
stars dance"- the ultimate in sound and vision
To dance with the Christmas Guiding star this year
on December 17 is a magical pyrotechnical display
choreographed by world famous French pyrotechnic experts
"Groupe F". Groupe F has especially created this 20-minute
spectacle titled "Pour que dansent les etoiles" (or
"So that the stars dance") under the theme "Romance
and Innovation", the central theme that underlies
all programs within the "Year of France in China"
campaign. "So that the stars dance" comprises of 6
intricately choreographed scenes including:

Through uniquely composed symphonic music, exhilarating
electric guitars, towering flames and sensational
pyrotechnics, magnificent images will be painted across
the night sky capturing all imaginations. Macau Tower
will be alit from ground to its mast, creating a romantic
scenery unattainable by traditional fireworks. The
monumental performance employs a large number of creative
technologies and machineries, namely:

80 pyrotechnic set-off points
on both sides of the tower, at the tip of the
mast, and near the spectator area;

42 flame-generators
|

1 barge on the Nam Van Lake behind
the tower

10 powerful skytracers with changing
colors creating infinite scenographies in the
sky

A team of more than 20 Groupe F artists will be
arriving from France including pyrotechnic experts,
musicians, choreographers, light designers and audio
engineers etc. to converge music, light and fire into
a magical unity. The world renowned team has been
featured in numerous international occasions amongst
which are the 2004 Athens Olympics, the 1998 Football
World Cup in France and the Year 2000 Millennium celebration
at Eiffel Tower Paris where they have dazzled and
inspired millions of spectators.
CCTV will be broadcasting this special performance
across major cities of the nation, so that more can
share in the wonder of this event.
French Marché - experience the authentic
French culture
The French Marché within Macau Tower will be
here to celebrate Christmas and New Year from December
10 to January 2. Two eye-catching landmarks, a 7.625m
chocolate Eiffel Tower and a 9.15m gingerbread Macau
Tower crafted by our dessert experts are standing
by to greet all visitors. The perfect backdrop to
a photo capturing the sweetest festive memories.
Begin a journey to France by strolling
down the romantic cobble-stoned street, stop by the
Wallace Fountain, revel in the aroma of freshly brewed
coffee from the Café, take a break under the
shade of a tree and listen to the accordionist's songs.
Depending on the time of day, one may catch the popular
quartet "Lunabob Lulu" or the "Forte" band performing
in unison with the carol singers. Experience the true
ambience of the Parisian streets where cancan dancers
may be putting forward their exhilarating steps alongside
the hilarious stilt-walker. Kids will love to receive
their gifts from the all-time-favorite Santa Claus,
and enjoy a workshop in gingerbread man decorating
or gift-making.
French gourmet is an integral part
of the nation's culture and at the French Marché,
one can savor all the renowned delicacies from France.

aroma of refreshing coffee, complementing delights
such as orange duck, frog legs, cheese platters
and escargot

The Boulangerie/Patisserie offers
over 20 types of freshly baked breads, fruit

The Macau Tower is the 10th tallest freestanding tower
in the world. The 338-metre Tower anchoring four public
levels of outlets includes a revolving restaurant,
a lounge, a double-height Observation Lounge and an
