The Macau Tower Convention &
Entertainment Centre launches AJ Hackett Macau
Tower activities at its Adventure Zone. There
are five activities available now following a
soft launch recently in conjunction with the Tower's
summer carnival. Unlike existing action sports
in the Asian region, the new activities entice
locals, tourists and groups alike to experience
a new meaning to adventure.
Green Heights
At the Ironwalk,
conquer the concrete faces of the Tower with
a trek up its legs and shaft to 8 metres above
ground. Or scramble up the Ironwalk
X (for extreme) to 23 metres on the vertical
version and if you think the ascent is challenging,
wait until you see the descent. Designed by
AJ Hackett, this urban adventure is the first
of its kind in the world and includes wooden
platforms linked by bridges, steel cables, nets,
and flying foxes.
With the Flying
Fox get ready to leap off a platform 11
metres above the ground and zip along for 70
metres from one leg of the Tower, flying over
the Carousel, to a large net at the Caravel.
Let the Bungy
Trampoline take you to greater and greater
heights when you start jumping. For more challenge,
add flips and tricks under the supervision of
instructors.
Altitude Check
Have a cool head and nerves of steel? Take
a hair-raising stroll around the outside of
the Tower's pod at the Skywalk
with only a see-through metal grate separating
you and the ground 216 metres below. The Bridge
Climb in Sydney inspired AJ Hackett for the
concept of Skywalk.
Beat the Fear
Dare yourself to the top of the world's 10th
tallest freestanding Tower with the Mast
Climb to 338 metres above ground. Overcome
100 metres of perfectly vertical ascension,
a physical test itself, until the exposure on
the exterior of the Mast puts your mind to the
ultimate test.
In addition to the Adventure Zone, the Macau
Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre
offers a large range of enjoyment for all ages.
In the Centre, there is a 500-seat theatre for
movies and cultural presentations. The Outdoor
Plaza features an Adventure Zone as well as
a children's playground including a Carousel
and a replica of a historic Caravel. A basement
level provides a full array of upscale shopping
from clothing to accessories. For dining,
a great selection including the Tower's revolving
360 Café,
180°
Lounge, Chinese
restaurant Lua Azul, Café
on 4, al fresco waterfront Carousel
Kiosk, Star
East, Nanbantei,
Vila
De Porto and Café
Madeira.
The Macau Tower is the 10th tallest freestanding
tower in the world. The 338-metre Tower anchoring
four public levels of outlets includes a revolving
restaurant, a lounge, a double-height Observation
Lounge and an Outdoor Observation Deck. The
Convention & Entertainment Centre houses
world-class meeting and exhibition facilities.
The Macau Tower, managed and operated by Shun
Tak Holdings Limited ("Shun Tak"),
was inaugurated in December 2001. AJ Hackett
Macau Tower is a joint venture between AJ Hackett
Asia and Shun Tak; and it is AJ Hackett's first
and only destination in the Greater China region.
About AJ Hackett
AJ Hackett is the inventor of commercial bungy
jumping. He developed the latex rubber cords
that are now used all over the world to bounce
and dangle headfirst jumpers. He tested the
idea with trial jumps, and then leapt off the
Eiffel Tower to prove it could be done. Over
a million people had participated the commercial
jumps operated by AJ Hackett with zero fatality.
